Measure here: the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs, tape flat against the coat. This is a small-dog vest — XL stops at about 8 kg, so a Labrador or a full-size French Bulldog will not fit it. Between two sizes, size up: a vest that is too snug blocks the shoulders.
Getting him used to it
- Let him sniff it on the ground. Thirty seconds, without putting it on.
- Two seconds indoors. Place, reward, remove. Five times.
- Extend it. Ten seconds, then a minute, always with a treat after.
- Go outside. By now it's the thing that happens before the walk.
Three days, ten minutes a day. Put it on and walk away instead, and he'll take it off — which is how most dog clothes end up in a drawer.

Cold mornings shouldn't mean skipping the walk. This vest does one thing: it holds warmth over the chest and back, with a sherpa collar that stands up against the wind and takes the draught off the neck.
How it's made
The D-ring is the part that earns its place. On a short walk you can clip the lead to the vest itself rather than the collar, so the pull is spread across the chest instead of the throat. For long walks or a dog that pulls, keep using a proper harness.

No. The vest has the D-ring; the lead in the photographs is ours, not part of the order.
Can I clip the lead to the vest?

How do you wash it?
Hand wash in cold water. Air dry away from direct heat, or the sherpa mats and never comes back.
Is it warm enough for snow?
It's built for cold, dry walks and mild winter weather. For deep snow or long exposure, limit the time outside.
