Measure here: the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs, tape flat against the coat. This is a small-dog vest — XL stops at about 8 kg, so a Labrador or a full-size French Bulldog will not fit it. Between two sizes, size up: a vest that is too snug blocks the shoulders.

Between two sizes? Size up. The chin strap tightens, the crown doesn't. Breeds are a visual reference only: two dogs of the same breed can have very different heads, so trust the weight.

What you ask us

Will my dog actually let me dress him?

Not on the first try, if you put it on and walk away. Let him sniff it on the ground first. On for two seconds indoors, reward, off. Then ten seconds. Then a minute. In three or four days it becomes the thing that happens before the walk — and it stops being a fight.

How do I choose the size?

Two different measurements. The vest goes by chest girth, measured at the widest part of the ribcage just behind the front legs. The hat goes by weight. Both tables are further up this page and on each product page. Between two sizes, size up.

Will the vest fit a big dog?

No. XL stops at roughly 8 kg of dog — it's built for toy and small breeds. A Labrador, a Border Collie or a full-size French Bulldog will not fit it. The sun hat is the one that goes up to 35 kg.

Can I clip the lead to the vest?

For a short, calm walk, yes — that's what the D-ring at the chest is for, and it spreads the pull across the chest instead of the throat. For a dog that pulls, or anything longer, use a proper harness. A garment is not a restraint.
